Painting with Tracie. Create your own masterpiece in this step-by-step program from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Flossmoor Public Library, 1000 Sterling Ave. Each participant will create a “Shy Bunny” painting on a 12-inch by 12-inch canvas. All supplies will be provided and all skill levels are welcome. Registration is required and limited. For ages 18 and up.
Galentine’s Day Out. Shops on Sterling, 1056 Sterling Ave. in Flossmoor, will host an afternoon of product demos, shopping, workshops, refreshments and tarot card reading from noon to 4 p.m.
“Walls of Respect: Norman Parish and the Parish Art Gallery” Documentary. Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway, will host a showing at 1 p.m. of the documentary with discussion to follow. Norman Parish was an American artist and art dealer who founded the Parish Gallery in Washington, D.C. The gallery focused on African-American artists when other galleries were less interested in showing their works. Discussion will be lead by co-producer Norman Parish, son of the focus of the film.
Spotlight Academy Cabaret Night Fundraiser. Spotlight Performance Academy will host a night of live singing and entertainment by academy artists, dancing, and a raffle with a “Great Gatsby” vibe. The event from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at FCC Community House, 847 Hutchison Road in Flossmoor, will be sponsored by the Jody and Karl Nurse Charitable Fund so all proceeds will benefit the academy. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Free babysitting will be provided. Click here to register.

Sunday, Feb. 9
Galintine Candle Class. Blue Pearl Candles, 2050 Ridge Road, will host a candle making class, including a bottle of wine with each class, starting at noon.
Love & Light Candle Making Date Night. You Matter 2 will host a candle-making workshop from 3 to 5 p.m. at FCC Community House, 847 Hutchison Road in Flossmoor. The BYOB fundraiser will have “a relaxed, fun vibe.” Tickets are $30 for individuals, $55 for couples and $160 for tables of six. Proceeds will benefit You Matter 2 youth programs.
