The 2025 schedule for events in Homewood was released recently, and it includes popular events from 2024 that will be returning this year. Some of those highly praised events are the Holiday Lights Tour, a Halloween event, and Art & Garden Fair.

Event manager Marla Youngblood told trustees and residents at the Tuesday, Jan. 28, board meeting that the Holiday Lights Tour was something new that they brought to the community in partnership with Flossmoor, and it turned out to be a huge success.
“We sold out of 120 tickets in under 12 hours for all four trolleys, so we’re looking to expand that next year,” said Youngblood. Trolleys gave participants a tour through Homewood and Flossmoor neighborhoods to view holiday light displays.
Holiday Lights festival in downtown Homewood will return on Dec. 5 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The first event of the year was the indoor farmers market this past Saturday on Jan. 25. According to Youngblood, it had good attendance with many local vendors and people from in and out of town.
There will be three more dates for the indoor farmers market this year, Feb. 22, March, 29, and April 26 from 8 a.m. to noon.
“I’m hoping that the indoor market is an indicator for how great our outdoor market will be,” said Youngblood.
The outdoor farmers market will be held on Saturdays, starting on May 31 in Martin Square from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Some other events returning this year that were a huge success will be the Martin Square Block Party with karaoke. Since the karaoke was such a big hit in the community, it will be held twice instead of once, as it was in 2024, said Youngblood.
“It went from a 4-year-old to someone in their 70s up there singing. Everyone had a good time. It wasn’t aimed towards one age group or demographic, everyone felt comfortable and that was amazing,” Youngblood said.
As for fall events, Youngblood announced that the date for Fall Fest will be moved back due to popular demand. Instead of being held at the end of September, fall fest will take place on Oct. 11 this year from noon to 9 p.m.
“I heard an overwhelming ask at Fall Fest to do it when it’s not 90 degrees,” said Youngblood, adding, “so I’m excited to see that change in weather so we can have more of that fall fest feel instead of a summer event feel.”
