Coyote Run sets record number of golf rounds

The Homewood-Flossmoor Park District’s Coyote Run Golf Course in Flossmoor set a record in 2024 with 40,261 rounds of golf played. That is a 6.4% increase over 2023, according to Tom Denklau, course manager.

The golf season stretched from Feb. 3 to Dec. 30. Denklau said the course was open 333 days in 2024. The opening day for the 2025 season will be weather dependent.

Golfers continue to give “rave reviews” on the excellent condition of the course “even with tens of thousands more ball marks and divots this season,” Denklau informed park commissioners. He credited his crew for all their work, including Phil Knight, Nicole Munroe, Mike Lavin and team and their agreement to keep the course open as late into the season as possible which helps the course’s revenue line.

He reported, “Over the last five seasons, we posted over 192,000 rounds with zero negative course condition complaints.”
