Schools Declare eLearning Day. Because of the cold temperatures today, Homewood District 153, Flossmoor District 161 and Homewood-Flossmoor District 233 schools will hold classes online rather than in person today. After school activities at Homewood-Flossmoor High School may be held after 3 p.m. at the discretion of the coaches and sponsors. Coaches and sponsors will communicate directly with students.

D233 Board Meeting Still On. The District 233 Board of Education meeting will be held as scheduled at 7 p.m. in the Viking Room, South Building, 999 Kedzie Ave.

H-F Park District Programs Canceled. The Homewood-Flossmoor Park District announced that all recreation programs for today will be canceled, including those held at Irwin Community Center and H-F Ice Arena. Irons Oaks Environmental Learning Center and H-F Racquet & Fitness Club will be open regular hours, but Wiley’s Grill at Coyote Run Golf Course will be closed. Anyone with questions can call 708-957-0300 for more information.

Trash Pickup. There is no change to Homewood Disposal garbage service for Martin Luther King Jr. holiday week. Place waste material out for collection on your normal pick up day.

Thornton Township Special Township Meeting will begin at 6:01 p.m. in the South Suburban College field house, 15800 S. State St. in South Holland. The agenda is available here. The meeting will provide electors (township residents who are registered voters) a chance to select a trustee to fill the seat vacated by Jerry Jones in October.

Homewood-Flossmoor Park District Board of Commissioners will meet at 7 p.m. in the Goldberg Administration Center, 3301 Flossmoor Road. The agenda is available here.
