Residents at the Heather Hill Civic Association meeting Jan. 15 got an update from Homewood-Flossmoor Park District Executive Director Doug Boehm on the new tennis court and two pickle ball courts being built at Highlands Park.
Two tennis courts were removed when the park district sold property near Heather Hill School to make way for the village’s storm water basin project designed to relieve flooding in downtown Flossmoor and the Heather Hill neighborhood.
“We’re about 10 days, two weeks short of good weather to getting it done. As soon as the weather breaks, we will be right back out,” Boehm told the audience.

Boehm said as the park district gets closer to finishing the courts, staff will be in contact with Flossmoor village officials and the civic association to make sure everything goes smoothly with its opening. Updates will be on the park district’s website at hfparks.com.
“I want to assure you that sale price, everything that we received for that tennis court is going to go into that park, Boehm said. “There’ll be additional amenities, we’ll put in some benches; we’ll put in some additional items just to make sure we keep up our end of that deal.”
