Friday, Jan. 10

Flossmoor Ice Skating. 
The H-F Park District reports that both ice rinks in Flossmoor Park, Flossmoor Road and Braeburn Avenue are expected to be ready for skaters by the weekend. “Please keep an eye on the yellow caution tape around the rinks, so you know when it’s safe to skate.” Check the status of the rinks at hfparks.com/rinkstatus/.

Crafty Tots. Flossmoor Public Library, 1000 Sterling Ave., will host the session starting at 10:30 a.m. Youngsters will be able to “finger-paint, doodle, and put together your own works of art. All supplies provided. Registration is required and limited.”

Senior Social Hour. Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway, will host the informal session starting at 1 p.m. “Join us for an hour of pleasant conversation and light refreshments.”

David Bowie Day. “On this day we celebrate our space brother, David Bowie. Dress in homage or just come out for the music” starting at 8 p.m. at Rabid Brewing, 17759 Bretz Drive in Homewood.

Tribute to Soul. TGX Live will be at Copper Still, 1961 Ridge Road in Homewood, starting at 8 p.m.

Karaoke at G&T. G&T Trackside very first karaoke night will be from 7 to 10 p.m. at 106 E. Margaret St. in Thornton.

Saturday, Jan. 11

Metra delays. Track construction will be taking place today and Sunday, Jan. 12. Trains could be delayed up to 30 minutes. For additional information, click here.

Soup, Sandwich and SONG. Guitarist Jeff Maharry perform solo from noon to 2 p.m. at Bergstein’s NY Deli, 18064 Martin Ave. in Homewood.

STEM Saturdays. The Homewood Science Center hosts fun learning play from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.  at 18022 Dixie Highway. Activities include Pixel Pegs, Early Math Counts, Children’s Book Inspired Making and Tinkering, Imagination Playground, Dinosaur Bones, LEGO Wall, Behind the Wall, Ramps and Pathways and Guacamole the T-Rex.

Sunday, Jan. 12

Sound Medicine: A Vibrational Journey. Serendipity Yoga and Wellness, 18300 Dixie Highway, will host an evening of music medicine by Sound Medicine Collective starting at 5 p.m. “You can expect to deeply relax and go into the brain wave states of dreaming, meditation and possibly even Delta waves of deep sleep.” Tickets are $45. Click here to register.
