Custom Housekeeping has moved around the corner in downtown Flossmoor to 1038 Sterling Avenue, suite 217, where it’s eager to continue a 25-year tradition of providing residential and commercial cleaning services to the local community.
The Emery family moved to Flossmoor in 1998, and used various cleaning services as they settled into their home. Pierre Emery and his mother, Darlene Emery, observed the companies cleaning their home and envisioned ways to improve business operations.
Darlene encouraged Pierre to develop a business plan. He developed his plan while working as a flight attendant for United, where he has worked for 36 years. Pierre researched local and state business requirements and regulations for opening a business, and after deciding to make it happen he thought Flossmoor was the ideal location.
Since the company opened in 2000, Custom Housekeeping, now CH Svcs Inc., has focused on providing customized services to each client, in both residential and commercial settings.
Darlene meets with each new client at their home or workplace and uses a master sheet to specify the cost for the services that will be provided. Customers are given the names of the cleaners who will arrive, and receive confirmation the day before the appointment. Afterward Darlene lets the clients look over the work, and checks to see they’re satisfied. CH uses separate, fully trained crews for black tie events.
Pierre commented: “It still amazes us the level of cleaning that we’re able to do…[w]e offer custom services for a whole house and create a different type of setting for the homeowner. It makes the home more inviting.”
“We still have some of our original clients … [w]e remain in Flossmoor … and it’s almost like an extended family,” he said.

Business hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and on Saturday between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. CH services are available for extended hours during peak holiday seasons weekly, and on Saturdays and some Sundays.
