On November 21, 2024, Marcia M. Molski (nee Moderacki) of Frankfort, Illinois won her battle against dementia which she fought bravely for several years. She was 83 years old. She leaves behind Roger, her devoted husband and “love of her life” of 64 years, and children Doug (Carol), Jeff (Marion) and Jennifer (Tony). She was the proud Gramma of Henry (Erin), Ali and Joe, Great Gramma of Owen and George. Marcia cherished her extended family including the Ryder’s and Mazzei’s.
Born and raised in Detroit, Marcia graduated from Dominican High School for Girls. She and Roger were married soon thereafter and started their family. In 1970 they moved to Flossmoor, Illinois where she became actively involved at her children’s school, Infant Jesus of Prague (IJP). One of their favorite memories was serving as chairpersons of the iconic “Curtain Call” in 1980. She treasured the birthday club luncheons shared with her IJP friends over the past 50 years.
After her faith and family Marcia’s next love was sports. She was an only child and her dad, Hank, was a “corporate softball player” in Detroit. In high school she played basketball and was goalie of the field hockey team. She was an avid fan of the Lions, Tigers, Wolverines and especially Tom Brady.
As an adult Marcia participated in tennis and bowling leagues. She was a great snow skier and enjoyed holiday vacations with her family in Colorado and spending the winter months in Longboat Key, Florida. She and Roger were longtime ticket holders for the Bears and White Sox (back when they were good teams) and they attended several Rose Bowls, World Series and the Olympics. Socializing with friends at the Bullpen Bar at Comiskey was one of her favorite summertime activities.
True to her Polish heritage, Marcia was a very hard worker and loved to serve. Once her kids were grown, she become the proprietor of Marcia’s Hallmark Shoppe in Flossmoor. After selling the store she went on to work at several jewelry boutiques in Chicago. Helping her customers find the most perfect gifts was her forte and gave her much joy.
Marcia was fortunate to have been a member of a local country club. She engaged in the club’s many offerings, including swimming and golf (albeit poorly). In her final years Marcia loved soaking in the sun at the pool with a glass of wine and an occasional game of ping pong.
She adored her grandchildren and hosted them for Camp Chicago and numerous trips to Disney World when they were young. Marcia even got to go to Disney for her great-grandsons 2nd Birthday a couple years ago.
All are welcome to join us for a memorial mass on Saturday, December 14 at 11:00 am at St. Veronica Church in Flossmoor (formerly Infant Jesus of Prague) with visitation at 10:00 am. After mass a reception will be held at Olympia Fields Country Club. We know that Marcia would love everyone to enjoy the beautiful Christmas décor and share some holiday cheer with us!
