Homewood resident Annie Lawrence took center stage at the Illinois School Counselor Association’s (ISCA) annual meeting Thursday, Nov. 14, at the Westin Chicago Northwest in Itasca.
Lawrence, who is a school counselor at Victor J. Andrew High School in Tinley Park, addressed a packed room with her colleague Kim Bartos about the benefits counselors can realize from sharing ideas on a regular basis to build community.
“We signed up to hear speakers on this topic last year, but they didn’t show, and we ended up fielding most of the questions. So this year we decided to do it ourselves,” Lawrence said.
ISCA is a 2100-member professional association that advocates for and supports school counselors in Illinois.
