Chronicle advertiser news: November 2024

Thank you to everyone who celebrated the H-F Chronicle’s 10-year anniversary with us on Oct. 5 at Flossmoor Station Restaurant & Brewery. As we mentioned then, we invite you all to share your thoughts on the Chronicle’s first decade covering local news. Feel free to use this form to let us know how we’re doing and how we can improve.

The Chronicle has not raised advertising rates for five years, and many of our long-time clients are still paying 2017 rates. We are not fond of price increases (whether giving or receiving) but necessity insists. Postage costs continue to climb, our printing costs are going up significantly and we want to pay our reporters better so we can keep experienced people.

Below is our new rate card, which goes into effect for all customers on Jan. 1.

But along with the rate increase, we’re increasing the Chronicle’s value to advertisers. Since 2017, we have mailed the print edition free to 10,000 households in Homewood and Flossmoor. Starting Sept. 1, we increased our reach 30% and each edition now reaches more than 12,700 homes and businesses in the community by mail.

In addition to our mailing, we distribute 800 copies each month to businesses, local government offices, libraries.

We’re also planning to expand our digital reach by creating a presence on more social media channels. We currently post links to our stories on Facebook and Instagram, and we post our video stories on YouTube. We’ll be adding LinkedIn and Threads before the end of the year.

Advertisers like you are a critical component for our little newspaper to flourish. Without your support and advertising over the last 10 years, we would not be able to bring our readers the “news you can’t get anywhere else.”

We recently unveiled a new position for our web advertisers. These digital ads are called inline advertisements and are placed after the fourth paragraph on every single page of our website during the ad run.

The number of views and clicks is 30% higher than our other static advertising positions. Please let us know if you’d like to give that a try for your local business. You can email our advertising consultant Lisa Campbell at [email protected] or text/call her at 708-548-2065.
