Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra performs for ‘Sweeney Todd’ at GSU

The Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra will give its next concert on Saturday, Oct. 19, as it accompanies the Kokandy Productions performance of the musical “Sweeney Todd” at Governors State University.

The Stephen Sondheim musical will open at 7:30 p.m. on the stage at the Center for Performing Arts at GSU in Park Forest. “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street” is set in 1785. The musical tells the story of the barber villain and his murderous acts.

Kokandy Productions is a Jeff Award-winning company based in Chicago. Its goal is to contribute to the development of Chicago-based musical theater artists and new musical theater works.
