Prairie State College invites the community to its open house on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 10 a.m. to noon on the main campus, 202 Halsted St. in Chicago Heights. This free event is an opportunity for prospective students and their families to explore the campus, meet faculty and staff, and about all the programs the college has to offer.
The event will include light refreshments, PSC swag and a special appearance by Lady Red from Soul 106.3 radio. The open house will give prospective students a chance to explore a variety of programs, including cyber security, early childhood education, dental assisting, physical therapist assisting, fire science, EMT, and auto technology, with training available for electric and hybrid vehicles.
PSC certificates can be earned in as little as six months, and associate degrees can be completed in under two years. Staff will share information about financial aid, scholarship opportunities and admission requirements. Guests will get a chance to participate in virtual games, including an escape room and Prospector Solitaire. The biology department will be conducting a hands-on DNA extraction activity.
Information about student services and resources, including counseling, tutoring and career advising, will be available.
