Drama Group stage ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ in October

Who doesn’t like a great mystery. There are few authors who could create suspense like Agatha Christie. Now audiences will get the chance to enjoy her work – and guess the murderer – when the Drama Group presents “Murder on the Orient Express.”

The famous drama will be presented over two weekends in early October. Travel with the companions on the Orient Express through Europe on a snowy evening in 1934. At daybreak, passengers find a snowdrift is blocking the tracks.  Worse than the delay is news that sometime during the night stabbed an American business mogul traveler in his bed, even as police discover his compartment door was locked from the inside.

Traveling on the Orient Express is the famed detective Hercule Poirot. He promptly begins interviewing suspects, securing alibis and forming theories about the killer who remains at large. Will the murderer strike again?

As the plot thickens, and his fellow travelers grow restless knowing they are all suspects, Poirot offers two scenarios about who murdered the American and why. The audience is part of the wildly glamorous crime-solving ride.

“Murder on the Orient Express” will be presented at Drama Group Studio at 330 202nd St. in Chicago Heights. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 4 and 5, and again at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 10, 11 and 12. The show will be presented at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6 and 13.
