Cradled in Flossmoor’s northwest corner of Flossmoor Road and Sterling Avenue, is Gypsy Fix, a charming boutique, run and operated by owner Morgan Sullins. Sullins has recently added a new addition –– a merger with J’EL Skincare.
This special collaboration between Gypsy Fix and J’EL Skincare, as described by Jacqueline Nelson-Elliott, CEO of J’EL Skincare, is a perfect match. Sullins’ vision for clothing, accessories, and home decor aligns seamlessly with Elliot’s fragrances and perfume oils, creating a one-of-a-kind shopping experience.
“I’ve been featuring and working with Jackie to have her perfumes in store, and when it came to wanting to develop and be able to provide more in this location, I didn’t need to look elsewhere,” Sullins said. “Jackie and I connected, there’s history, trust, and it’s been effortless.”
Nestled in the boutique, in its own space, shoppers can now conveniently stop for some skin care, fragrances, makeup, and personalized one-on-one consultations with Elliott, a licensed esthetician instructor.
The soft launch of the duo businesses has been a little over a month. Sullins said, “This doesn’t change the boutique, rather enhances it, now with J’EL Skincare’s space within my space.”
Elliot, with 15 years of experience in the skincare industry, is excited about the collaboration.
“This was an almost instant idea. Working with Morgan, educating and helping people is key. I’m here to help inform and educate proper skincare,” she said. “It’s not about selling it; it’s about having an educational resource, and it doesn’t take 25 products to do it.”
The dynamic duo shared their many up-and-coming plans. Sullins said, “We’re not done here; there will be many things to look out for in future events, including Jackie’s services and working with even more organizations in town.
“Most importantly, we want our shoppers to know shopping locally and supporting business experiences means prices are not immediately astronomically high,” she added. “I know that was a thing, but vintage shopping and boutique shopping is not like that anymore.”
Elliott said, “People can shop locally in town and not fear they’ll be spending so much. We’ve been fortunate to have clients already established and see these requests and wants; they’re right in our community.
The J’EL Skincare offers “a fantastic all-in-one product with a cleanser, moisturizer, and exfoliator,” Elliott said. “And any skincare product purchased in a black or acrylic bottle can be refilled for half the original purchase price.”
Sullins and Elliott are thrilled to embark on a new community-building initiative in town. Their partnership is built on shared values, similar inventory systems, and product knowledge, which helps Sullins return to interior design.
Sullins said, “We’re able to spot one another, we support each other, and it allows me to get back into interior design, bringing new dimensions and visions for clientele.”
Sullins added, “I poured myself into this business, wanting to help find unique and special items. I wouldn’t trade this for anything, as hard as it is.”
