EXCESSIVE HEAT — The National Weather Services has issued an excessive heat warning that started Sunday afternoon and will continue through 10 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27. The heat will create hazardous conditions, especially for elderly people or those with health conditions that increase their sensitivity to heat. The high today and Tuesday is expected to be near 96, with heat index values of up to 104.
AIR QUALITY ALERT — The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency has issued air quality alerts for today and Tuesday. Officials expect moderate particle pollution today and moderate ozone levels Tuesday. Anyone with sensitivity to those conditions should consider limiting their activity level or reduce the amount of time outdoors.
