Recyclepalooza returns Sept. 21

For those area residents who have an accumulation of difficult-to-recycle items, Flossmoor’s annual Recyclepalooza event is a way to get rid of them responsibly.

The 9 a.m. to noon event on Sept. 21 at Parker Junior High is sponsored by the Village of Flossmoor Green Commission and Homewood Disposal.

New this year, cans of latex paint will be accepted for a $2 to $20 fee. Cans of spray paint will be accepted for a fee of $1 thanks to Flat Can Recycling.

Other items that can be brought to Recylepalooza include electronics, metals, Legos, bicycles, pop tops, razors, eyeglasses, trophies, flags, sporting goods, inkjet and laser print cartridges, bread tags, plastic gift cards, gently used clothing, travel-sized toiletries, small household items, towels, blankets, mascara wands, oral care products and packaging, Styrofoam (but no packing peanuts).

Televisions will be accepted for a $20 per set fee. In addition to collecting recyclable items, volunteers from the Community Relations Commission will be collecting donations for Anew: Building Beyond Violence & Abuse during Recyclepalooza. Requested supplies include new toiletries, cleaning supplies, baby diapers/wipes and gift cards.

Anew provides comprehensive services for those impacted by domestic violence.
