The Drama Group will take you back to the 1960s dreams of love and peace when it presents “Hair.”
The musical tells the story of Claude and his tribe of friends as they rebel against the Vietnam War and prepare for the dawning of the Age of Aquarius where love and rock ‘n roll will solve all problems.
The production will be staged over two weekends. Shows are at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Aug. 2 and 3, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4. Repeat performances are at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Aug. 8, 9 and 10, with 2 p.m. performances Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 10 and 11. All shows are at the Drama Group’s Milord Theatre, 330 202nd St., Chicago Heights.
Jennifer O’Keefe of Flossmoor performs as a member of the Tribe. Stephen Lopez of Homewood is music director and Russ Hoganson of Homewood is scenic designer. Linda Hart of Homewood is production manager.

The Drama Group and its cast remind audiences that “Hair” presents attitudes that speak against various ethnic groups. While these attitudes are unacceptable today, this production makes an effort to frame these attitudes from a modern perspective, while maintaining and presenting the original script. There also are sexual content, drug use, racial slurs and adult language in the show, and there will be strobe lights and theatrical haze that may affect some audience members.
The Drama Group acknowledges the support from the Illinois Arts Council agency that provided a grant through federal funds provided by the National Endowment for the Arts.
