Police called to clear crowd after graduation party Friday

Homewood police and officers from multiple area communities responded to the 3000 block of 183rd street shortly before 9:30 p.m. Friday to help clear a crowd of 300 to 400 teens gathered around businesses.

The crowd had been at a graduation party nearby that was shut down by the host because of the number of people who showed up, according to Homewood Deputy Police Chief Kelly Strayer.

There were no reported injuries, no known weapons and no known property damage during the incident, Strayer said. No arrests were made.

The area was cleared by about 11:30 p.m.
