BIKE THE GEM — Flossmoor’s Future holds the annual community bike ride is still on as of Friday evening, but organizers suggest checking the website for updates in case wet weather forces a change in plans. The ride will start from the Infant Jesus of Prague School parking lot at Douglas Avenue and Flossmoor Road at 11 a.m. Saturday. A one-mile ride for youngsters under age 9 will start at 11:15 a.m. This free event requires registration here.

HOMEWOOD FARMERS MARKET — Fresh produce, artisan foods, handcrafted personal care item vendors plus live music will all be available on Martin Square between Ridge Road and Chestnut Road from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

ART & GARDEN STREET FAIR — The festival will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Martin Avenue in downtown Homewood, rain or shine. More than 70 artisan vendors are expected for the two-day event, selling handcrafted craft and art items, from jewelry and candles to furniture and small batch foods. Live music on Saturday will include Fifty-One Lincoln Band at 10 a.m., The PriSSillas at 1 p.m. and Southside Soul Kings from 4 to 6 p.m. There will be activities for kids and a variety of food trucks at the event.

FOOD DRIVE — A Catholic Charities food drive, hosted by the Parish of St. John Neumann, 17951 Dixie Highway in Homewood, will be conducted from 9 to 11 a.m. in the parish parking lot.

POOL OPENS — The Lions Club Pool, 1041 Ridge Road in Homewood, opens for the season at 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Daily admission and pool passes will be available. Details are available here. Information on the pool’s closing due to inclement weather is at 708-797-6111.
