OFF-LEASH BIKE RIDE — A nine-mile ride every Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. at GoodSpeed Cycle, 2125 W. 183rd St. in Homewood. The route includes Butterfield Creek bike path, past Rover’s Run and through Izaak Walton Preserve. No registration. Donuts upon return. This week, the group will make a pit stop in Izaak Walton to remove a patch of Dame’s Rocket, an invasive plant beside the trail.
NATIVE PLANT SALE — Irons Oaks, 20000 Western Ave., will hold the sale from 7 to 9 a.m. Saturday.
PARK PRIDE — The annual spring cleaning of parks in Homewood and Flossmoor will happen from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday. The H-F Park District coordinates volunteers who descend on parks and clean up litter, add mulch, plant flowers and more. All volunteers will receive a T-shirt and lunch. FREE COMIC BOOK DAY — FCBD is an annual event on the first Saturday of May that will be celebrated at Zone Comics & Games, 18107 Dixie Highway in Homewood, and other comic shops, on May 4.
LEGO DISPLAY — WindyCityLUG (LEGO® User Group) will display custom Lego creations from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the meeting room at Flossmoor Public Library, 1000 Sterling Ave.
BARB AND DAN’S ROAD RIDE — Weekly bike ride start at 8 a.m. Saturday from GoodSpeed Cycle, 2125 W. 183rd St. in Homewood. There are two groups. One is a no-one-gets-dropped group that follows a 20-mile route. Another group is goes on a longer ride. Helmets required. Lights encouraged. Riders of all experience levels are welcome.
