A man and a woman wearing ski masks reportedly hijacked a vehicle in the 800 block of Elder Road on Tuesday evening, according to Homewood police.
Officers responded to the location at about 6:10 p.m. and learned that the pair approached the victim, who was sitting in a silver Kia Sorento. The male hijacker was armed with a rifle and the female had a handgun, police said.
The victim fled on foot, and the two hijackers left in the Kia traveling northbound. The vehicle was later located unoccupied in Chicago.
The Homewood Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit is conducting the investigation.
