NEW MOON NIGHT HIKE — Learn about the moon’s cycle, watch the stars and take a stroll through Irons Oaks woods, 20000 Western Ave. in Olympia Fields from 6 to 7 p.m. tonight. For ages 3 and up. Cost is $5 for H-F Park District residents, $7 for non-residents. Click here to register.

SWEETHEART DANCE — Dads, grandfathers, uncles and mentors can escort their young sweethearts to the dance from 6 to 8 p.m. at the H-F Sports Complex, 18211 S. Aberdeen St. in Homewood. There will be games, snacks and dancing. A professional photographer will be on hand to get keepsake photos. Each child must be accompanied by an adult. For ages 3 to 12. TRAIL MIX PRESENTS TRAY WELLINGTON BAND — Tray Wellington Band, a bluegrass group from Raleigh, North Carolina, will headline the Trail Mix concert Saturday night. Local one-man band M.G. Bailey will open at 7 p.m. at Thornton Distilling Co., 400 E Margaret St. in Thornton. Tickets are available at trailmixmusic.org.

LUNAR NEW YEAR CHILDREN’S EVENT — Flossmoor Public Library, in partnership with the Village of Flossmoor, will host a Lunar New Year celebration from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at the library, 1000 Sterling Ave. Participants will enjoy a craft station to make a Lunar New Year picture frame, storytelling, a video presentation about the significance of the Lunar New Year and its festivities and photo ops. MARDI GRAS PARTY AT ST. JOHN NEUMANN — The community is invited to a Mardi Gras party at the Parish of St. John Neumann, 17951 Dixie Highway in Homewood. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Saturday with a catered dinner served at 7:30 p.m. DJ Spinning Discs will provide entertainment throughout the evening. This is a cash bar event. MARDI GRAS PARTY AT HOMEWOOD LIBRARY — Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway, will host a party for families from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday. There will be beads, masks, king cake and maybe even a parade.

NATURE ZEN DOODLES — Enjoy this meditational art form from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday in the peaceful setting of Irons Oaks, 20000 Western Ave. in Olympia Fields. It can provide a calming effect, increasing mental retention and improve mood. Participants will go home with a unique piece of art, drawing pen and a blank page to continue Zen doodling at home. STEM SATURDAY — The Homewood Science Center’s weekly STEM play and learn event will feature MedUcate from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 18022 Dixie Highway.
