METRA CHANGES GO INTO EFFECT — Metra tickets, fares and methods of purchase change effective today. More details about the changes can be found here. Highlights:
- There is a new fare structure with a variety of new fare prices, products, and rules.
- Metra closed its remaining ticket windows, including at downtown stations. Vending machines have been installed at the busiest stations.
- February Monthly Passes are on sale starting Feb. 1. Paper January Monthly Passes will remain valid until noon on Feb. 5.
- The 10-Ride Ticket is no longer be available for purchase.
- The Fair Transit South Cook pilot ended on the Metra Electric and Rock Island lines. It was replaced with the Access Pilot Program, which allow reduced fares for low-income riders on all lines.
COMMEMORATIVE BRICKS FOR VETERANS — The Flossmoor Veterans Memorial is selling commemorative bricks to honor veterans to help fund maintenance of the Wall of Honor memorial to be built adjacent to Flossmoor Park. Bricks will be installed and maintained in the Wall of Honor donor plaza as a permanent way to honor and remember a loved one. Bricks are available for a $125 donation and can be reserved online.
ROOTS TO SUCCESS — Flossmoor is looking village residents who are African American business owners, finance professionals, entrepreneurs or influencers to participate in a Black History Month workshop, “Roots to Success: Bridging Generations in Black Entrepreneurship” to be held in partnership with Homewood-Flossmoor High School.
