JUST ENOUGH TO GET BY: CLASSICAL MUSIC — Professional opera singer Rosemary Joyce will lead a session for adults from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway, on how to connect with classical music without feeling intimidated, overwhelmed or undereducated.

GETTING EXCITED ABOUT SCIENCE— Steve Belliveau will bring cool experiments for all ages from 2 to 2:45 p.m. on Sunday at Flossmoor Public Library, 1000 Sterling Ave. Expect lots of audience participation, music, humor, fun and great science. FLOSSMOOR CENTENNIAL WEBSITE — Flossmoor unveiled a website for the village’s centennial celebration. It includes a list of the year’s events and a timeline tracing the village’s history. The website includes a centennial merchandise shop with shirts, hoodies, caps, hats and golf towels. All proceeds will benefit the Flossmoor Public Art Fund. The will be open through Sunday, Jan. 21, with orders being ready for pick up in mid-February from village hall, 2800 Flossmoor Road. HOLIDAY TREE RECYCLINGDEADLINE EXTENDED— The weather’s been uncooperative for those who want to stop by Irons Oaks to recycle holiday trees, so the deadline has been pushed back two days. Monday, Jan. 22, will be the last day to take undecorated and unwrapped holiday trees to Irons Oaks’ Vollmer Road lot at 2453 Vollmer Road. Stack them neatly with the trunks pointed towards the parking lot. Donated trees will be chipped for use on Irons Oaks trails. Holiday lights and extension cords can be recycled at Park Place, 2515 Flossmoor Road; H-F Racquet & Fitness Club, 2920 183rd St.; Irwin Center, 18120 Highland Ave.; Goldberg Center, 3301 Flossmoor Road; and Irons Oaks, 20000 Western Ave.
