SILENT NIGHT AT SSHS— Today through Saturday, Dec. 23, South Suburban Humane Society will try to find every pet in its care a home. Adoption fees willl be waived and the first five dog adoptions and first five cat adoptions will get a take home a special present. The shelter at 21800 Central Ave. in Matteson will be open noon to 8 p.m. each day and will be open Christmas Eve, Sunday, Dec. 24.

HOT COCOA AND BLOOD DRIVE MIXER — Cook County Commissioner Donna Miller will host a blood drive at her district office, 15440 Central Ave., Oak Forest. SEMESTER EXAM CRAM — Students who need a quiet place to cram for semester exams will find refuge at Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway, from 8 to 10 p.m. tonight and Wednesday. Snacks will be provided. Therapy dogs will be available for stress-relieving breaks. A tutor will be available. Students must show school ID.

FLOSSMOOR SEEKS CANDLE LIGHTERS— The village of Flossmoor is seeking volunteers to help light the community kinara during Kwanzaa. Anyone who is interested in helping should email [email protected].
