Blood bank organizations are appealing to area residents to donate blood during the winter holiday season, and there will be three opportunities in or near H-F in coming weeks.
The American Red Cross will host a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 8, at Advocate South Suburban Hospital, 17800 Kedzie Ave. in Hazel Crest.
To reward donors, the Red Cross is partnering with Amazon Prime Video and its new film Candy Cane Lane to offer incentives. Those who give blood, platelets or AB Elite plasma during December will be entered for a chance to win a $1,000 Amazon.com gift card and a 65-inch Omni QLED Series Amazon Fire TV. Those who donate before Dec. 17 will receive a $10 Amazon.com gift card by email.

On Saturday, Dec. 9, Vitalant will hold a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Veronica Parish (formerly Infant Jesus of Prague), 1131 Douglas Ave., in partnership with Nina Council 3602 of the Knights of Columbus.
Donors will receive a $10 Amazon.com gift card or a gift card from other retailers. Donors must have an account and be opted in to the recognition program to redeem the gift card.
