LETTERS FROM DACHAU — Flossmoor Public Library, 1000 Sterling Ave., will host “Letters from Dachau: A Journey of Words though Rarely Spoken” from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight in the Helen Wilson Meeting Room. Clarice Wilsey will share the Holocaust experience of her father, an Army physician who helped liberate the Dachau Concentration Camp on April 29, 1945. Registration is not required.
D153 SEEKS VETERANS — Homewood School District 153 is inviting veterans or those currently serving in uniform to register for the annual Veterans’ Day celebration Nov. 10 at James Hart School. The event includes a flag raising ceremony, breakfast and school assembly to salute veterans for their service. RSVP here by Friday, Nov. 3.
CANDY COLLECTION — Anyone who has extra Halloween goodies looking for a home, the Flossmoor Community Relations Commission will be collecting items for the Manteno Veterans’ Home on Nov. 25, Small Business Saturday, at Park Place in Flossmoor Park. Small candy bars, sugar-free hard candy, cereal bars and individually packaged chips and cookies are welcome.
