TRICK OR TREAT HOURS — The hours for trick-or-treating in Homewood and Flossmoor will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31. Homewood is inviting kids to trick-or-treat from 3 to 5 p.m. at village hall, 2020 Chestnut Road; the police and fire departments, 17950 Dixie Highway; the Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway; and the Homewood Science Center, 18022 Dixie Highway.
HALLOWEEN WEATHER — The forecast for Oct. 31 is a bit scary. Snow showers are expected much of the day and into the evening, according to the National Weather Service. It will be breezy, with winds gusing to 25 mph at times. There also could be some thunder. Chance of precipitation during the day is 70%, dropping to 60% at night. New snow accumulation will probably be less than an inch.
TRICK OR TREAT PARKING IN SOUTHGATE — The Southgate neighborhood in Homewood, especially Highland, Page and Gladville avenues south of Willow Road, are popular enough with trick or treaters that Homewood police establish no parking zones to help with safety and the flow of traffic.
