Homewood police arrest Chicago Heights man for reckless homicide

Homewood police announced Sunday, Oct. 29, that a Chicago Heights man was arrested Oct. 27 in connection with a fatal traffic crash in September.

Deondre Bing, 19, was charged with reckless homicide for a crash on Sept. 6 at the intersection of 183rd Street and Kedzie Avenue. Grace Hill, 76, of Country Club Hills died as a result of the crash.

Homewood police and fire crews responded to the crash at about 8:45 a.m. and learned that three vehicles were involved. Hill and two other people were transported to local hospitals. Hill was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police said at the time that a third driver was not injured and was taken into custody pending the investigation but was later released.

Homewood Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit conducted the investigation into the crash with assistance from the Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team (SMART).
