TRUNK OR TREAT — Place of Zen is hosting trick-or-treaters from 3 to 6 p.m. today at 18360 Governors Highway in the Cherry Creek shopping center.

TRICK OR TREAT TRAIL — Children 10 and younger are invited to come Trick-or-Treat from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at Millennium Park, 18600 Harwood Ave., Homewood. Youngsters must be accompanied by an adult. The Homewood-Flossmoor Park District event is free for Homewood and Flossmoor residents, but registration is required. Registration slots are staggered 15 minutes throughout the event. Non-residents can register for a fee of $2. Click here to register.

BARK-OR-TREAT — Flossmoor Station Restaurant & Brewery and Flossmoor Business Association are sponsoring a Halloween costume competition for pets today at 3 p.m. on the brewery’s caboose deck, 1035 Sterling Ave. The entry fee is $10 per household, which will be donated to the South Suburban Humane Society. Winners will receive gifts from local Flossmoor businesses. Tickets and more details are available online.

MYTH & MAGIC STORIES — Folk and fairy tales were not originally meant for small children. Kelly Campos will be telling stories in their original intent as cautionary tales at Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway, at 2 p.m. today. The show is intended for teens and adults.

SIP ‘N’ SING — Spotlight Performance Academy is sponsoring a group karaoke session, Halloween style from 7 to 8:30 p.m. tonight, Oct. 28, at the Homewood Science Center, 18022 Dixie Highway. This 21-and-over event will feature drinks for sale by Twisted Q and a costume contest with local prizes. Tickets are available at the Spotlight Academy website.

ROLLER DERBY MINOR LEAGUE BOUT — The Chicago Knockouts roller derby league will hold a youth bout at 2 p.m. today in the Homewood Auditorium, 2010 Chestnut Road. The Horrific Haunters will take on the Comic Book Crushers. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. Tickets $10, online and at the door. Accessible seating available at no extra charge.

DIA DE LOS MUERTOS — Celebrate the memories of loved ones from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Union Street Gallery, 1527 Otto Boulevard, Chicago Heights.
