Village Clerk Gina LoGalbo administered the oath of office to Benjamin Morris after Police Chief Jerel Jones introduced him to the board.
Jones said Morris grew up in South Holland and has been living in Flossmoor for several years. He was inspired to become a police officer by his uncle, Tom Weitzel, who was the chief of police in Riverdale for more than a decade.
He majored in criminal justice and psychology at Trinity Christian College. He graduated with high honors in May 2023. He graduated from the Chicago Police Academy one month later.
“He has worked very hard to be here today,” Jones said. “The Village of Flossmoor and our police department are honored to have Officer Benjamin Morris on our team and look forward to watching Ben progress as a law enforcement professional for our community.”
