Walk offers insights into Flossmoor’s trees

The Village of Flossmoor is hosting a free guided fall tree walk at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 19, starting at the traffic circle in downtown Flossmoor.

Flossmoor has a variety of trees. On this half-mile walk, David Becker, the village’s arborist and forestry maintenance technician, will share information on how the village maintains its urban forest.

The village has been introducing a variety of tree species, including bitternut hickory, sweetbay magnolia and Kentucky coffee.

“This is a great opportunity for people to learn about the positive impact trees have on a community and how Flossmoor’s tree-planning program provides benefits for generations to come,” Becker said.

This new event — timed well with possibly peak autumn foliage — is being offered rain or shine; no registration is required. For more information, please visit www.Flossmoor.org or email [email protected].
