Emergency alarm activated by accident Wednesday at Western Avenue School

At approximately 11:50 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, a Blue Point emergency alert system mobile fob unit was accidentally activated, which implemented a Code Red lockdown at Western Avenue School. There was no emergency, and this was an accidental activation, according to a notice from the Flossmoor Police Department.

Police officers responded to the initial emergency call immediately, and they did a thorough walk-through of the school building to verify the safety of the students and staff. 

The Flossmoor Police Department, Blue Point, and School District 161 determined that there was no danger present at any time at Western Avenue school.
