Homewood-Flossmoor area girls soccer players captured the first place trophy at the Synergy Give and Go Tournament over the weekend of Sept. 23-25, scoring 27 goals over four matches and allowing the competition to score just two goals.

The girls, who attend Western Avenue School, Churchill School and Infant Jesus of Prague School, play as the Tinley Park Bobcats. The team was undefeated entering the competition play in Crest Hill.

On Friday, Sept. 23, the Bobcats defeated Synergy SC 8-0 in the opening game. Competition was in Crest Hill.

On Saturday, Sept. 24, the team went on to defeat Wheaton United SC 8-1. Later that day, the Bobcats played another semi-final match defeating Legacy SC 9-1.

In the final round Sunday, Sept. 25, the Bobcats defeated Synergy SC 2-0.

The Bobcats were organized in 2022 and have only lost three regular season games. Over their two years of play, the girls have won first place in three tournaments.

“The girls played great, and really showed their individual development over the past year, with each girl scoring at least one goal,” said Blake Pinto, who coaches the team with Kate Goesel.

“I think the secret is how close these girls are off the field, seeing each other every day at school, birthday parties, or having sleepovers. That connection makes them a tighter team, and it’s an advantage we have as a localized, smaller program that others just can’t usually offer,” Pinto added.

Players are Caroline Will, Audrianna Bjorklund, Evelyn Pinto, Mackenzie Berk, Tori Siengo, Maggie Goesel, Emilia Leahy, Maddy Gozzi, Danielle Dunigan, Naomi Zurek and Lola Laven.
