Folk music performers to entertain at Oct. 13 Trail Mix program

The Wildwoods, a folk/Americana trio, will entertain at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at the Trail Mix program at Izaak Walton Preserve, 1100 Ridge Road in Homewood.

The Wildwoods of Lincoln, Nebraska, are the husband-wife team Noah Gose on guitar and Chloe Gose on violin, with Andrew Vaggalis on bass. Their music harmoniously blends their voices to create a sound of nostalgia. Their delicate melodies and descriptive lyrics come from nature, love, experiences from the road, and growing up in Nebraska.

The band first recorded in 2017 with their debut album “Sweet Nostalgia” and continue to record. Their latest album is “Foxfield Saint John,” recorded this year.

Music lovers outside of Nebraska have enjoyed their music at shows in Brooklyn and St. Louis and a European tour in 2019.

The Wildwoods were nominated five times by the Omaha Arts and Entertainment Awards as a top Americana/Folk artist in Nebraska, and in 2022 they were named best band by the Lincoln Journal Star newspaper’s Lincoln’s Choice Awards. The group’s musical momentum continues into 2023 by placing as a Top 3 finalist, with more than 1,000 submissions from around the world, in the Gems in The Rough contest, hosted by popular YouTube channel GemsOnVHS.

The Trail Mix music series’ mission is to produce high quality music events for Chicago’s South Suburbs that expand the area’s cultural offerings, encourage artists’ endeavors, and support the creative use of the area’s open spaces. For tickets, visit TrailMixTix.
