The Village of Homewood presents the 21st annual Fall Fest from noon to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23.
The festival will be held in the heart of downtown on Martin Avenue between Ridge Road and Hickory Road.
Road closures will begin Friday, Sept. 22, at 8 a.m. starting at Martin Avenue from Ridge Road to Hickory Road. At noon, Hickory Road will be closed from Dixie Highway to Harwood Avenue.
An ADA accessible entrance and drop-off will be available on the day of the event on the northwest corner of Kroner Lane and Martin (near Nail Savvy).
Festival goers will enjoy food and treats from several Homewood restaurants. Alcohol will be available for purchase.


Local artisan vendors will be on-site displaying and selling various crafts and works of art.
Live music will be on-stage starting at 1 p.m. until the event concludes at 9 p.m.
The PriSSillas, will perform high-energy sets of popular hits spanning numerous decades. The group performed in Homewood earlier this year at the Starry Night/Pride concert in Irwin Park.
Fifty One Lincoln Band will perform upbeat blues. Family-friendly pop rock band 28 Days will close the show with their foot tapping, eclectic set.
The Kids Korner will feature a craft called Yarn Magic which is sponsored by the Homewood Science Center. Kids activities include interactive games, face painting, a rock climbing wall, open sidewalk chalking and more.
The festival will also include a booth where Homewood residents can share ideas about the future of the downtown area.
As part of the Transit-Oriented Development Master Plan, consultants helping the village with planning will have a booth where they will be available to discuss with residents what kinds of businesses and amenities they would like to see.
The entertainment programming includes:
- 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. | The PriSScillas (live music).
- 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. | Kids Korner (free games, crafts, more).
- 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. | Kids Kraft (Hosted by Homewood Science Center).
- 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. | Face painting (free).
- 1 p.m. – 7 p.m. | Rock Climbing Wall (free).
- 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. | Chili Cook-Off judging.
- 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. | Open chili tasting (donations benefit the Homewood Rotary Foundation).
- 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. | Fifty One Lincoln Band (live music).
- 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. | Pumpkin patch opens.
- 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. | 28 Days (live music).
Admission and parking are free for the duration of the event. Parking is available in all of the Metra parking lots and at the village hall lot, 2020 Chestnut Road. Street parking is permitted on streets which are not closed.
