The Homewood Board of Trustees will hold a committee of the whole meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, in village hall, 2020 Chestnut Road, with four topics on the agenda related to downtown amenities.
Topics will include the downtown sound system extension project. The board delayed a vote on the project at its Aug. 8 meeting after a number of residents spoke out against expanding the system.
Three other topics all relate to downtown lighting: the Tivoli lights on Martin Square, village hall lighting and passageway lighting.
The idea of holding a committee of the whole meeting, a practice which has not been used by the board for years, came up at the July 11 meeting.
Trustee Anne Colton said then that board meetings tend to be somewhat constrained by the agenda. While there are opportunities throughout each meeting for board and public comment, she said typically there was not much open conversation on issues facing the village.
Mayor Rich Hofeld said the committee of the whole format could be resurrected to serve that need.
Anyone who wishes to send a comment to the board before the meeting can send email to [email protected] or place a written comment in the drop box in front of the main entrance to village hall. Comments submitted before 4 p.m. on the day of meetings will be distributed to the board prior to the meeting.
Anyone who wishes to attend the meeting remotely can visit zoom.us or call 312-626-6799, use meeting ID 980 4907 6232 and passcode 830183.
