HEAT WARNING — The National Weather Service has issued a heat warning until 8 p.m. today. The temperature is expected to reach 99 degrees or higher with a heat index of about 113 degrees. Officials urge people to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
EARLY TRASH PICKUP — Homewood Disposal announced on Monday that because of excessive heat expected Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, trash pickup will start early about 5:30 a.m.
JUNIOR JAM — Melody Mart, 18062 Dixie Highway, will host a music jam from 7 to 8 p.m. today for anyone 17 and under.
