HEAT WARNING — The National Weather Service has issued a heat warning until 8 p.m. today. The temperature is expected to reach 99 degrees or higher with a heat index of about 113 degrees. Officials urge people to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
