WALL OF HONOR GROUNDBREAKING — Flossmoor Veterans’ Memorial Inc. will host a ceremonial groundbreaking ceremony from 2:30 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 9, on the site of the proposed Wall of Honor north of Flossmoor Road between the Flossmoor train station and Park Place.

MIDDLE SCHOOL CONSERVATION INTERNSHIP — Homewood Science Center accepting applications for its fall conservation ecology-based internship for middle school students. All area students in grades 6 through 8 are invited to apply to join us this fall in a community project to support Homewood Izaak Walton Preserve and Homewood Science Center through scientific investigation, discovery, and leadership. Meetings are on Saturdays for five weeks starting Sept. 23 and concludes on Sunday, Oct. 22. Apply online

HOMEWOOD FARMERS’ MARKET — The market will be open tonight from 5 to 9 p.m. Vendors will include skin care, pudding, wellness products, books, popcorn, beer, wine, lemonade, tea and the El Coyote food truck. Live music by Black Willow Brass Quintet from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and Falling Stars from 7 to 9 p.m.
