SPOTLIGHT ACADEMY GARAGE SALE FUNDRAISER — Spotlight Performance Academy is holding a fundraiser garage sale today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1459 Olive Road in Homewood. All proceeds will go to the academy’s scholarship fund for families who need help with tuition.

PORCH FEST RETURNS — After a one-year hiatus, Porch Fest, the informal distributed neighborhood concert, is back. Organizer Annie Lawrence has lined up four homes and a number of local groups and soloists to perform at locations in Homewood’s Southgate neighborhood from 1 to 6 p.m. today. The free event is intended to foster community and showcase local musicians.

OFF-LEASH BIKE RIDE — GoodSpeed Cycles of Homewood will host its weekly community bike ride from 8:30 to about 9:45 a.m. today. The route starts at GoodSpeed, 2125 183rd St. and includes the Butterfield Creek bike path, Rovers Run and Izaak Walton Nature Preserve. Donuts upon return.

HELP THE BAND — The H-F Band Parents Association will host a car wash fundraiser from 9 a.m. to noon today at the Homewood-Flossmoor High School North Building, 800 Governors Highway. Suggested donation is $5, cash only.

WINDY CITY CANNABIS CLOSING FOR REMODEL — Windy City Cannabis, 1137 175th St. in Homewood is planning to close at the end of day, Aug. 6, and will remain closed for several weeks for remodeling and expansion. For more information, visit www.windycitycannabis.com.

METRA ADJUSTS FOR LOLLAPALOOZA — Beginning Thursday, Aug. 3 and running through Sunday, Aug. 6, alcoholic beverages or glass containers will not be allowed on any Metra train during Lollapalooza, the music festival in Chicago that runs all day Thursday through Sunday. There is an increased likelihood that bicycles cannot be accommodated due to anticipated crowds. Metra will provide extra trains with added railcars and adjust schedules on most lines to accommodate the anticipated demand for ridership during the festival. Click here for more information.
