METRA ADJUSTS FOR LOLLAPALOOZA — Beginning Thursday, Aug. 3 and running through Sunday, Aug. 6, alcoholic beverages or glass containers will not be allowed on any Metra train during Lollapalooza, the music festival in Chicago that runs all day Thursday through Sunday. There is an increased likelihood that bicycles won’t be accommodated due to anticipated crowds. Metra will provide extra trains with added railcars and adjust schedules on most lines to accommodate the anticipated demand for ridership during the festival. Click here for more information.

MURAL TOUR REGISTRATION OPEN — The Flossmoor Veterans’ Wall of Honor Project will host a “tiny tour” of Homewood’s Richard Haas murals on Sept. 8 in conjunction with the Homewood Public Library’s Senior Social Hour. Registration is open. The tour will cover two blocks along the rear of the Ridge Road buildings from Harwood to Dixie with lunch following at Fifth Quarter.
