AIR QUALITY ALERT — The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency has declared an air quality alert until midnight. “Particulate levels and ozone due to Canadian wildfire smoke are forecast to be at or above the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups category of the air quality index.” IEPA officials suggest active children and adults, especially people with pulmonary or respiratory disease such as asthma, should limit prolonged outdoor activity.
