ACOUSTIC AFTER HOURS — Andrew Robert Palmer, an indie-rock/folk singer-songwriter will entertain with songs that draw inspiration from his upbringing in Hazel Crest and address universal themes. The show starts at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 15, at the Homewood Library, 17917 Dixie Highway. This performance is open to persons 18 and older.

HOMEWOOD FARMERS MARKET — The weekly market will be open Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. with fresh produce, baked goods, specialty foods and live music.

GARDEN WALK — Take a walk through seven beautiful gardens on the 2023 Southland Community Garden Walk from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 16, starting at Goldberg Park, 3301 Flossmoor Road, Flossmoor. Tickets for the garden walk are $20 in advance, and $25 the day of the event. Proceeds from the garden walk benefit two helping agencies, Aunt Martha’s Health and Wellness and Respond Now. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Art 4 Soul, 18135 Harwood Ave., Homewood; Ebel’s Ace Hardware in Cherry Creek Plaza, 18410 Governors Highway, Homewood; or Gypsy Fix, 1056 Sterling Ave., Flossmoor. WETLANDS WALK AT THORN CREEK NATURE CENTER — An introduction to wetlands will be followed by a three-mile walk to tour wetland areas with a naturalist guide. YOU MATTER 2 CAR WASH FUNDRAISER — Youth leadership organization You Matter 2 will be at the Glenwood Fire Station No. 2, 534 N. Roberts Drive, from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Cost is $5. 

SCIENCE CENTER ONLINE AUCTION OPENS — The Homewood Science Center’s SummerFest online auction is open for bidding at bit.ly/44q37WZ. The auction includes 53 items ranging from a private tour of Thornton Quarry for 10 people to White Sox and Cubs tickets.
