District 161 welcomes new hires

Flossmoor School District 161 welcomed a list of new employees at the July 5 special Board of Education meeting.

Serena Hills Elementary has a new assistant principal. The board voted to approve Heather Minyard for the position. According to board documents, Minyard has more than two years of experience as an assistant principal. She has also worked as a teacher at Fernwood Elementary School in Chicago.

D161 also voted to approve Deborah Dunwoody as curriculum coordinator and Crystal Briney as preschool coordinator.

The board approved three new teachers at Parker Junior High. Deonna Randle-El Chielo will teach seventh grade science. Bailey Golliday was hired as a seventh grade ELA teacher, and Amber Lewis is the new eighth grade ELA teacher.

Mackenzie Dockweiler will teach kindergarten at Serena Hills School. At Western Avenue School Maame Wiafe-Ababio was hired as a special education paraprofessional and Sherry Dinkins was hired as a school support aide.

Except for the special education paraprofessional, which is a new position, the new hires will fill positions vacated by employees that were either promoted or resigned.
