Members of Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra to perform for Chamber Night July 19 in Flossmoor

Chamber Night will bring beautiful music to downtown Flossmoor when members of the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra perform during an evening program Wednesday, July 19.

The special event, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the front of the Flossmoor Public Library, is presented by the Chicago Southland Chamber of Commerce, the Homewood-Flossmoor Chronicle, the Village of Flossmoor and the Flossmoor Business Association.

This is a highly anticipated event that will will provide an opportunity for music enthusiasts, newcomer or not, to enjoy well-known pieces from Mozart to Sinatra to Coldplay arranged for classical instruments.

Terri Winfree, president of Chicago Southland Chamber of Commerce, expressed her enthusiasm and support of Chamber Night with the IPO.  

“We love Flossmoor Chamber Night with the IPO, which provides a fabulous concert for the residents of Flossmoor and nearby communities,” Winfree said. 

The evening starts at 5 p.m. with the opportunity to “shop, wine and dine” in downtown

Flossmoor, she said. The concert begins shortly after at 5:45 p.m. with the Bel Canto Choir, followed by the headlining performance by the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra Strings.

Music enthusiasts from throughout the South Suburbs are welcome to attend this free event. Dinner, beverages and other items will be available for purchase from Dunning’s, The Bistro on Sterling, and Flossmoor Station Restaurant and Brewery.

“This event also has been a springboard for economic development because it allows attendees to support the restaurants and shops in downtown Flossmoor. Bring your friends, family and lawn chairs and enjoy the family-friendly event,” Winfree said.

The event usually produces a big turnout and there is no reason to believe this year will be any different, she added.

The IPO Chamber Night is free and supported by Meijer, BankFinancial in Flossmoor, ComEd, Rich Township, State Farm – Mike Fernandez, Kluger Furs, Bionic Content and the H-F Chronicle.
