Catholic Charities food drive June 24 in Homewood

A food drive for Catholic Charities will be conducted from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, at St. John Neumann Parish, 17951 Dixie Highway in Homewood.

This will be a “pop-the-trunk” drive in the church parking lot. Donations of food, and cash or check payable to Catholic Charities, are greatly appreciated, said Mary Ellen Brabec, food drive coordinator.

The Catholic Charities food pantry, located at St. Irenaeus Church in Park Forest, is serving between 100 and 150 families weekly. The pantry could greatly use dried fruit, canned Vienna sausage or hams, canned soups, rice, rice sides, pasta sauce, potato sides, cereal, coffee, condiments, such as ketchup and salad dressing, seasonings, snacks, canned olives, nuts and seeds.
