Homewood police responded to the 1200 block of Elder Road early Sunday to break up an eighth grade graduation party that apparently got out of hand.
Police reported that that party became uncontrollable when about 100 kids gathered in the area. Several callers reported the party, including the host. A number of people posted messages on local Facebook groups asking parents to retrieve their children and claiming kids were walking on 183rd Street and trespassing on neighbors’ property.
Several complaints were called into 911 regarding the large group, including a report of a subject with a gun and groups fighting. Several witnesses in the area reported that a gun was not seen and the teenagers were being rowdy but not fighting.
Officers cleared the groups gathered on Elder and remained in the area until the majority of the crowd was dispersed. No one was injured during the incident. At this time, no citations or complaints have been issued, according to police.
