Men with handgun rob armored car, hit employee in Homewood

Two men robbed an armored truck in the parking lot of Jewel-Osco on 183rd Street and struck an employee on Tuesday morning, May 2, according to Homewood police.

At about 9:30 a.m., two men approached an employee of an armed truck parked at the grocery store, police said. 

One of the men was armed with a handgun, police said. He hit the employee with the gun and demanded money. The men obtained an unknown amount of U.S. currency and fled the area westbound on 183rd Street in an unknown vehicle.

The armored truck employee is being treated for a minor injury. 

Homewood Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit is assisting the Federal Bureau of Investigations with this investigation. They ask anyone who may have information about this incident to contact 708-206-3420.
