Parks Pastries moving to former location of Pearson’s Bakery

Parks Pastries Bakery & Café is moving from Homewood’s downtown business district to the Southgate Shopping Area in Homewood, according to the company website. Both the new and old locations are currently not open to the public, but the company is still taking orders by phone and on its website.

“After three great years at 18201 Dixie Hwy, we have decided to relocate to better suit our kitchen needs. Have no fear. We aren’t moving far and will still call Homewood home,” Parks Pastries said in a Facebook post.

“We’ve outgrown our existing kitchen and needed additional space,” Parks Pastries wrote on their website’s FAQ, explaining the reason for the move.

At the former location signs on the front door and store window advise customers about the move and recommend they visit the website, www.parkspastries.com, or call 708-221-6360 for more information.

At the new location at 18670 Dixie Highway, the former Pearson’s Bakery signs are currently still intact. According to the website, Parks Pastries anticipates that the new location will open in April.

During the moving process, Parks Pastries is still delivering baked goods to the community at the normal business hours of 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

The local bakery makes cheesecakes, cakes, pies, cupcakes and cookies. Cupcakes and cookies are typically sold by the dozen and cheesecakes and pies are typically eight or nine inches. It works with customers on custom made options and specialties.

Brittany Parks, the owner of Parks Pastries, told the Chronicle in 2020 that she was inspired to open the bakery after something she saw on the Food Network television series, “Cupcake Wars.”
