Authors of ‘The Dream King’ to speak at Marian Catholic on overcoming racism

After 10 years of loyal friendship, Will Ford and Matt Lockett discovered a divine thread in the tapestry of racism in America. Many years ago, the ancestors of one of these men was a slave owner of the ancestors of the other.

That discovery led the two on a journey to discover more about America’s history and the unknown heroes who overcame injustice. Rising above the racial tension in our nation, they authored a book titled “The Dream King,” which tells a story about systemic injustice and delivers new keys for understanding the nation’s past, present and future.

Ford and Lockett will speak at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 19, in the west gym at Marian Catholic High School, 700 Ashland Ave., Chicago Heights.

The event will be hosted by Marian Catholic’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council.
